Mobile Order… Is it Really More Convenient?

More places are now offering mobile order. From Starbucks to restaurants and more, having the option to order ahead of time right from your mobile device seems slick and easy.  Now Disney has started to test mobile ordering in various restaurants and snack shops to reduce the amount of time guests are waiting in line.  

On my last visit to Walt Disney World, I decided to give it a try and see if it really is as easy as it sounds. Like most things now it is funneled through the My Disney Experience App. There are prompts that will alert you when you are near a place that offers the mobile ordering experience. 

I pulled up Aloha Isle and ordered 2 Dole Whips (my favorite and "must-have" treat at WDW!) I already have my credit card linked to My Disney Experience so ordering and payment was a cinch.

Whether you're near the location or not, you are given the option to click "I'm Here, Prepare My Food" when you arrive.  So maybe you're waiting in line for Space Mountain and you know your next stop is the Jungle Cruise, you can pull up Aloha Isle, order, then as you've arrived in Adventureland click, "I'm Here, Prepare my Food."

Within seconds I walked to the counter, that is clearly designated for Mobile Pick-Up. There was no line, which was refreshing! And let me say that those that were waiting in line for their Dole Whip were wondering what special secret magical access I had to skip the line! 

Overall it was very user friendly and convenient! I would definitely utilize it again and try some other restaurants.  I'm thinking it will be particularly helpful with my toddler in tow!
